A 26-year-old man accused in connection with a homicide in Montreal last year was repatriated to Canada on Monday, Montreal police said.

The suspect is charged with aggravated assault and manslaughter in relation to a fatal assault that occurred in the parking lot of a restaurant in the Côte-des-Neiges—Notre-Dame-de-Grâce borough on May 31, 2023.
The suspect was apprehended in France last spring after an international manhunt involving the Montreal police’s major crimes division and French authorities.
Following the completion of extradition proceedings, the suspect was returned to Canada on Monday and appeared in court in Montreal.
According to the Montreal police, the incident began with a verbal dispute in the parking lot of a Décarie Blvd. restaurant. Police said a 50-year-old man was assaulted and left unconscious on the ground. He died in a hospital two days later.
A second suspect, 24, was arrested the day after the attack and faces similar charges.
Police are continuing their investigation.
